Volunteers in Action
Partnering with our children and staff during PTA events is a fun and rewarding experience! We cannot run any programs without our family volunteers. Please be on the lookout for opportunities to team up with us!
Monthly Spotlight! Get To Know the Staff at P.S./I.S. 104
Meet Ms. Gordon – the principal of P.S./I.S. 104! Ms. Gordon has been at 104 for 17 years and says that the K-8 model is what she loves most about our school. “It allows us to really know our students and families,” she says. “We get to see the students grow and change over the years and we even have many generations attending school here. It is really a family!” Some of our students wanted to know:
Q. How long have you been principal? (Zak P., Grade 2)
A. I began as an Assistant Principal for 17 years. I have been Principal for a year and a half!
Q. When is the scaffolding coming out?(Max C., Grade 4)
A. The scaffolding will be up until at least the end of this school year. After that we are going to have the school boiler replaced so we may have scaffolding again.
Q. What do you expect the world to be like in 100 years? (Chris K, Grade 5)
A. The world, I believe, will be very digital. It seems that almost everything we do these days is electronic. I sometimes think we will no longer meet in person for most things, which makes me sad. I love seeing everyone in person.
Q. How do you get ready for the school day? (Catherine K., Grade 8)
A. I get up at 4:30 AM. I get myself ready, take out my dog and get my son's things organized for school. I get to the building and review my schedule for the day, answer emails and look ahead for what needs to get done.
