Thank you to the faculty, families and students who came out for Giving Tuesday! Together, we made fantastic holiday cards for families in need, and assembled about 60 necessity bags for the homeless. We are so grateful to our PSIS 104 family for making this event a success!

We could never thank our volunteers enough for all they do! To show our gratitude, we hosted a special volunteer breakfast with special goodies from around the neighborhood. Thank you to the best volunteers around!
104PTA was thrilled to host the first-ever end of year carnival. Our school community had an incredible time during an afternoon of rides, games, cotton candy, a 360 photo booth and the highlight of the day - a chance to dunk Principal Gordon (what a trooper!).
It was heritage night...with a twist! Students, families and staff took a trip around the world as they visited stations dedicated to different countries and cultures and participated in henna, crafts, architecture challenges and even the Greek Olympics. The event featured musical performances by a big piper, mariachi band, lion dancers and the dabke group, Freedom Dabke and kids and families got to shop at a global bazaar and a food court featuring foods from around the world!
Kids in grades K-8 got the chance to visit the Main gym for some serious shopping! Plants, gifts for loved ones, used books and school gear were all on sale with 100% of the proceeds going to Spring & Fall events.
This week, we thanked our teachers & staff for "Raising the Bar!" Every day, the PTA hosted a pop up bar with special treats to thank our amazing staff on behalf of all the families at P.S./I.S. 104. We are immensely thankful for the community florists and families who donated dozens of bouquets for our Bloom Bar and the volunteers who helped organize our Supplies, Lunch & Pretzel Bar. What a time!
The day we've been waiting for was finally here! 104 Slime Time was an amazing event and experience as the top 3 earning classes in our first annual Read-A-Thon got to witness Principal Gordon and Superintendent Pretto get slimed by the top six earning students live! The afternoon was MCd by Marco Glorious, the Emmy-nominated producer of The Wendy Williams Show with a special appearance by Alpha. Slime Time was featured in ABC news and was the front page story of The Home Reporter!
CLICK HERE FOR NEWS COVERAGE On Thursday, April 14th, we held our second Changemaker event of the year! Students, families and staff cleaned up sidewalks around both buildings as well as the garden spaces around the Main. After sweeping up debris, dirt and leaves, they planted dandelion seeds to honor our military children.
Love, friendship....and a snowball fight! K-5 students had a blast on Valentine's Day when PTA volunteers turned the Main Building gym into a winter wonderland, with trees, snowflakes and hearts galore. Each child left with a goody bag filled with school supplies, a lollipop and an acrylic character heart!

On Giving Tuesday, the PTA at PS/IS 104 partnered with One Sandwich At A Time and The Brooklyn Cyclones to make 500 sandwiches for food insecure families in our community. The event, which was sponsored by Councilman Justin Brannan and Bay Ridge Cares, had kids as young as 5 making ham/cheese, turkey/cheese and sunflower butter/jelly sandwiches alongside their caregivers, 104 administration and teachers and staff from the Brooklyn Cyclones. The Cyclones' mascot, Sandy, made a guest appearance as did Alpha! This event launched 104PTA's new initiative, ONE04 Changemakers. PS/IS 104 has a rich history of civic engagement and responsibility and the PTA is supporting that mission by hosting a series of events throughout the school year that focus exclusively on volunteerism and giving back to our community. |
